SIX of Fiji's promising athletes will represent the nation at the 2009 FINA World Swimming Championships in Rome next month, Fiji Swimming announced today.

The team's coach is Maftoa Pene and its manager is Lucy Erasito.

The championship, which is from July 22-August 2, is organised by the Fdration Internationale de Natation (FINA), the world's governing body of five aquatic sports: swimming, diving, water polo, synchronised swimming and open water swimming.

Prior to the world championships, the team will be based in Liverpool, UK for a five- day staging camp, along with the swim team from Palau, said Fiji's swimming body in a statement.

"Arrangements for this camp have been organised by the North West Development Agency under the agreement between the Agency and the Oceania National Olympic Committees which is aimed at providing opportunities for sportsmen and women from Oceania prepare for the London 2012 Olympic Games," it said.
