Utah State men's basketball player Tai Wesley has been named the Western Athletic Conference player of the week on Monday.

Wesley was also named the Utah State Student-Athlete of the Week, an award that is voted on by a state-wide media panel.

It is the second time this year and fourth time in his career that Wesley has been named WAC Player of the Week. As for USU Athlete of the Week, it is the eighth time overall that Wesley has garnered USU's top weekly individual honor.

Wesley, a 6-7, 240-pound senior forward from Provo led Utah State to a pair of Western Athletic Conference home wins last week against Hawaii (74-66) and San Jose State (80-71).

For the week, Wesley averaged 21.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 2.0 assist and 2.0 blocks per game, while shooting 72.2 percent from the field (13-18) and 89.5 percent at the free throw line (17-19).

Utah State men's basketball player Tai Wesley has been named the Western Athletic Conference men's basketball player of the week, it was announced by the league office Monday.

It is the first time this year and third time in his career that Wesley has been named WAC Player of the Week.

Wesley, a 6-foot-7, 240-pound senior forward from Provo, led Utah State to a pair of home wins last week against Long Beach State (81-53) and Cal State Bakersfield (77-58). Against the 49ers, Wesley posted his first double-double of the season with 16 points and a career-high 14 rebounds to go along with a season-high six assists. Against the Roadrunners, he recorded another double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds.

Wesley currently ranks first in the WAC and third in the nation in field goal shooting at 65.3 percent. He also ranks fifth in the league in rebounding (8.0), seventh in scoring (14.7) and seventh in blocked shots (1.11).
